Now that the tax return season has been completed we can announce the following provisional FREE networking events for 2012. If you wish to attend please contact a member of the team. All events are taking place on a Wednesday and normally take about 1 hour and will start at lunchtime, free food and drinks will be provided.

We are holding various FREE training workshops over the course of 2012, if you wish to attend please feel free to contact us. If you wish to discuss anything at all about accountancy and would like us to design a workshop around your needs please let us know.
The following are provisional dates and depend on numbers attending, the workshop normally lasts about 1-2 hours.

| FREE - Business Owner Workshop - 20th September 2011 - September 2011 |
We are holding a FREE workshop event at 12pm on the 20th September 2011 to go through various aspects of what is required from a business owner.
This workshop will cover a variety of aspects from company law, HMRC requirements and various other issues. It also gives you the opportunity to meet other business owners and do some networking.
This workshop would suit a business owner who has just set up a Limited company and does not know what to do next or a business owner who is confused by all of the legislation.
This is totally FREE and places will be booked on a first come, first serve basis.

| Another Happy Client - August 2011 |
Every time we complete a set of Financial Statements we ask our clients how we have performed. As well as scoring excellent for all aspects (which is not unusual), the client has written "Have never been able to fault it, you always give a top quality service".

| Road Works - August 2011 |
Road Works have started outside the office. If you are having difficulty parking, then please ask at reception and we should be able to let you inside the barriers for parking.

| FREE Networking Lunch - 20th July 2011 - 1.00pm - June 2011 |
On the 5th November 2010; after listening to our client’s views on Networking Lunches, we decided to hold our own Networking Lunch; but with a difference! Not only would ours be 100% free, with food and refreshments included; but more importantly we wanted to ensure we created a relaxed atmosphere, where people felt at ease and not expected to partake in everyone’s favourite activity: “Stand up and tell the room about yourself and your business”.
We are delighted to announce that the Networking Lunch was a roaring success, so much in fact that we have decided to make them a regular event throughout the year.

After a quiet break over Easter we are back in the office.
In the first 2 days back a large client has had a PAYE Compliance Visit from HMRC, we are pleased to say that the visit went well and that nothing was found by HMRC.

| We are Closed over Easter - April 2011 |
Having spoken to some Clients we have decided to close the office over Easter. There are three non Bank Holiday days in the middle and the staff would like to make the holiday a long one.
We are therfore closing the office from 5pm on Thursday 21st April until 9 am on Tuesday 3rd May 2011.
If you feel you need assitance during this holiday please ring the office number as intructions are available to leave a message.

| We Did It! - February 2011 |
Once again we have completed all those tax returns that we could, even those where we did not get the final item of information until yesterday. It's always a challenge but our team pulled together as always and we did it. We are going to keep encouraging our clients to bring their information in early if possible. Well done to the team for all their hard work.

| VAT Rate Changes - January 2011 |
Please remember that the VAT Standard rate for vat changes on the 4th January 2011. It goes up from 17.5% to 20%.
To calculate the VAT, take the gross figure and divide by 6.
To calculate the net, take the gross figure and divide by 1.2.

We understand that many of our Xmas cards, wishing you a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year have not arrived yet.

| Our Broadband Went Down - November 2010 |
Yesterday (25th November )our broadband service failed. This is most unusual. However whilst we may have lost a small number of emails we should have received most when the service resumed this morning at just after 9am. We apologise to any one who was inconvenienced by this interruption. if you sent an email during this time please resend it to make sure we receive it.

| Electronic Filing - November 2010 |
We have been filing documents electronically for years now. Starting the personal tax returns and moving through Companies House documents and now some accounts and company returns.
However in April next year (2011) all Company accounts will need to be filed electronically. This is two years earlier than expected.
We however have invested in software that ensures we will be compliant with these new requirements. We wonder just how many other accountancy practices will have planned for this and will be able to do this.

| Networking Event Success! - November 2010 |
Our first free networking meeting has taken place today. It went down a storm with everyone who attended, we hope that everyone who came found at least one new contact and found it very useful. The feedback we received is extremely positive. The light hearted nature of the event seemed to appeal to our clients and others that attended. Many thanks to my staff for all the hard work in putting the event on. With this being such a good event we will no doubt arrange more networking events in the future!

| First Networking Event - October 2010 |
We are pleased to announce our first Networking meeting on Friday 5th November. Most people find networking meetings embarrasing and they dont get much time to promote their own businesses.
Our intention is that people enjoy themselves and feel at ease whilst meeting other businesses and learning from the experience. We do like to do things differently so rather than charge we feel that making these meetings free, people will not be put off by the costs.

| Meeting the Deadline - August 2010 |
All P11d's for our clients were submitted within the dealine date.
30%-40% of self assessment tax returns have been completed for our clients so far for the 2009/2010 tax year.
We have been updating our internal systems and standard documents during August, these should help us to provide an service.

| The Diggers Have Gone! - June 2010 |
The diggers have gone! The work took slightly longer than anticipated and parking availability is back to normal.
During June one of our clients has had a VAT visit which has gone well, with no amounts due to HMRC.

| Celebration of 10th Anniversary! - May 2010 |
On the 31st May 2010 we will be celebrating our 10th anniversary of opening the Loughborough office. We cannot believe it is 10 years since we moved in! We are now looking forward to the next 10 years. During May 2010, the local authority is likely to start creating a relief road in the local area. Although we have been informed that parking could be affected over a 2 week period whilst works are undertaken, this should not cause any disruptions to our normal services.

| Website Update - April 2010 |
You may have noticed, but our website has completely changed! We have been meaning to update our website for some time now and we hope you like it.
During April a client who deals with taxi hire received a VAT inspection, once again, absolutely nothing was deemed to be payable and the visit lasted half a day.

| Satisfied the HMRC! - March 2010 |
During March a client who deals with exports in and out of the UK from its parent company had a VAT inspection. After 1 full day on site the HMRC Inspector was satisfied with the reporting in place and that no errors were found. We initially designed the SAGE system around our clients’ complex needs and provided SAGE training; we are naturally delighted by this outcome.
During March, Nigel went to Germany for 3 days to visit the parent company of a UK subsidiary of whom we provide full management reporting for. The purpose of the visit was to understand a newly implemented reporting system which all subsidiaries around the world need to operate. Nigel thoroughly enjoyed his visit and would like to thank everyone involved for their hospitality.

| Trish is Back! - February 2010 |
| We are pleased to announce the return of Trish to the office. Trish has decided to come back to the office after the birth of her baby, Jayda. Trish will be working closely with Nigel as his personal assistant.
